Rhetorical Analysis Paper
Movie Analysis Paper
Reflection
English 1010 has been an amazing experience for me. We started with learning about Pathos, Logo and Ego. I was able to learn about how advertisements appeal to the human mind. What we find attractive. What we spend our money on and what is really worth our time. Will these products really work and how do we know that these products will work?
By learning about these appeals, you are able to use them towards your strengths. If you know your audience and what they like, you are able to play to those appeals and win a case, or an argument. Knowing these appeals would benefit you greatly.
In the rhetorical paper that I was able to write about, I saw how beautify products were sold to the appeal of women. All women want to feel beautiful and purchasing products to help them achieve this goal. The beauty industry will sell you products that will make you look slimmer, younger or beautiful. Various products such as girdles or items that make you seem like you have a bigger bottom or top are available at your fingertips. Products that make your skin look firmer, clearer and more youthful are available at the corner market. The beauty induction is a multimillion-dollar industry because they have learned to use these appeals to their benefit.
As the semester progressed, we learned about various ways of writing more specifically, movie reviews. Now I must admit that I would get the analysis and the plot summary mixed up all the time, and although I have started to see the difference, I can still get this mixed up. By reading more movie reviews, I will be able to pick out the different parts of a movie review.
Writers use different styles and methods of writing to appeal to their readers. By utilizing the different appeals and by utilizing the style format of a movie review, one can write a very strong persuasive paper.
When movie reviews begin their articles, they use these appeals and structures to inform their readers of what they feel the movie was and how it should appeal to the audience. Some articles may focus mainly on a small portion of the movie and neglect the rest, but as long as they get their point across, they are happy with their work.
Now, the elephant in the room is my final paper and the lack thereof. Although I have a very good excuse as to the lack of material for this paper. In the end, it is still an excuse. I have known since the first day of class when this paper was due, but still failed to make the time to submit a worthy paper. I am not giving an excuse but more of an explanation, that although my paper may be lacking, my experience in English 1010 was not. I know that I will be able to take what I learned into my next English class and can help with writing other persuasive papers or articles. All in all, I’m grateful for this experience.
