Spring 2014 - E-Portfolio Statement
Film 1070 has definitely opened my eyes as to films and the film industry. Learning about the different types of films, the film styles and the way that film represents people and culture. The different films show different perspectives. One of the movies that we watched in class was Babel. This movie was so intriguing by telling the story of four different people and how they are all connected by a gun.
We watched many movie clips to help with the understanding of the text. The MPA rating system has had a huge effect on media. What they allow as an "R" rating today versus 10 years ago, who probably be a lot different.
We watched Casablanca. I've always heard about that movie but never watched it. It's such great movie. The different one liners that I''ve always heard people say, now make sense to me. "We'll always have Paris" and "Play it again Sam" will always remind me of my Film 1070 class cause it's where I first got to see this movie.
As the semester comes to a close, I'm grateful for this class, as it has opened up my eyes to the different perspective. I've learned so much of what it takes to make a great movie. I've learned about movies I would have never watched. And, there are still some movies that I would never watch again (Rashomon) and movies that I would reccommend to my friends and family.
